Hyperbaric and Red Light Therapy - A powerful combination

At LondonCryo we know that whole body cryotherapy and our newly introduced modalities such Hyperbaric oxygen therapy and Red Light Therapy are proven to improve wellness and performance, as well as a form of anti-ageing. In this latest blog we explain three amazing synergies between red light therapy and hyperbaric oxygen therapy:

1. They reduce inflammation.

2. They reduce free radical damage.

3. They improve mitochondrial performance (which increases ATP & energy production).

✨MITOCHONDIRAL PERFORMANCE✨

Hyperbaric has this amazing effect on improving mitochondrial performance because oxygen is the last electron acceptor in the electron transport chain, which is the system our mitochondria uses to make energy. ⚡️

As we increase the amount of oxygen we drive into the cell, we can increase the amount of ATP & energy that cell can make. 📈

Cytochrome C is another rate limiting step of ATP production. So the ⏩faster we can get cytochrome c to pass those electrons, the more ATP that mitochondria is going to be able to make. 🪄

All the mitochondria in the tissue that's getting exposed to ♦️red light are stimulated, upregulating cytochrome C, and so you're going to have upregulation of ATP. 🤙🏽

✨FREE RADICAL DAMAGE✨

💨Hyperbaric oxygen increases superoxide dismutase, catalase, and glutathione, which are some of the ways that our cells are able to deal with free radical damage. 💯

♦️Red light therapy helps to stimulate 😌melatonin, which is another antioxidant that could also help us deal with the free radical damage.

✨INFLAMMATION✨

💨Hyperbaric has this way of reducing inflammatory cytokines, increasing the body's own anti-inflammatory cytokines, and also helps balance the regulatory cytokines. ⚖️

♦️Red light has an effect on COX-2. As red light effects COX-2, it also has the ability to reduce inflammation inside the body. 👌🏽
